The Army Museum was renovated in 1990-2010 as part of the ATHENA project.
The museum today aims to provide an understanding of past and present conflicts, as well as the relationship between the military and civil world, in times of war or peace, in a decentralized and multiple approach that mixes military, political, diplomatic, social, cultural, artistic, technical and anthropological history at different scales and from different perspectives.
In recent years, the Army Museum has tried to fill in the gaps identified in its collections and has focused its acquisition policy on perceptions of the war, the post-1945 period, and decolonization wars rather than on the current commitments of France and its armies.
