Description of the Model 1899 Swiss Cavalry Officer’s Broadsword: This Model 1899 Swiss Cavalry Officer’s Broadsword is a significant antique artifact with historical value. Its elegant design and craftsmanship make it a wonderful addition to your collection or an impressive gift for a history and military enthusiast.
This is a very beautiful broadsword made by the German company WKC, very reminiscent of British military examples, the blade has an etched pattern and narrow double lobes. The blade has a bright original polish on both sides. Both sides of the blade are decorated with a Swiss cross in a sunburst with foliate border.
The hilt has a narrow pierced guard with a single forward curved cross, the hilt is sloped and in excellent condition, the braided wire is intact, the leather finger loop is badly cracked but remains intact. The uncoated metal sheath is in excellent condition. The broadsword kit includes an original red lanyard.
