On the mouth of the scabbard on the front side there are military trophies and the Maltese cross, on the lower scabbard there is an image of a cross and the inscription “In hoc signo vinces” (from Latin – “With this sign you will win”). These words, according to legend, were written on the heavenly cross, which saw the Roman Emperor Constantine I the Great during his campaign against Rome on October 28, 312 AD, before the battle with Maxentius at the Mulvievo Bridge. After this vision, Constantine ordered his soldiers to use the military standard, the labarum

The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic fraternal organization that originated in the United States and has spread throughout the world. It was founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut, by the Rev. Father Michael Joseph McGivney. The primary purpose of the founding was to unite Catholic men in a fraternal society to strengthen their faith, protect their families, provide mutual support, and perform charitable works. The organization is named after the famous navigator Christopher Columbus, who symbolized the Catholic heritage in the New World.
The basic principles of the Knights of Columbus are:
Charity – helping those most in need, protecting the weak and assisting all who find themselves in difficult circumstances.
Unity – the cohesiveness of the fraternity to support common goals and protect the church.
Fraternity – mutual assistance to members of the organization, especially in times of need.
Patriotism – love and devotion to one’s country while maintaining Catholic principles in public life.
At the time of its founding, the Knights of Columbus sought to offer Catholics an alternative to secular fraternal organizations that often excluded Catholics because of their religious beliefs. The Knights provided financial support to members and their families in the event of illness, death, or other problems, as well as religious and moral education.
