It will be a significant element in any collection of antique weapons or historical artifacts. ⚔️
Handle is wooden, brown in color, with strongly curved outlines. The upper part of the handle is bent down, conical in cross-section. A tang of the blade passes through it, with a round nut screwed on top. On the front side of the handle, at the top, on the triangular plane, there is a round enamel SA emblem and in the center of the handle is a depiction of an eagle with outstretched wings holding a swastika in its claws.
Crossguard — enlarged and inverted representation of the upper part of the handle. The lower part of the hilt has an inscription.
Blade is straight, double-edged, flat, diamond-shaped, polished, gradually narrowing to the point. On the front side, there is an inscription in Gothic font “Alles fur Deutschland” — “Everything for Germany”, and on the reverse side, there is the marking RZM M7/27, indicating the manufacturer “Puma”.
Scabbard is metal, painted brown. The fitting of the scabbard is metal, nickel-plated, attached to the scabbard with four screws. It consists of a throat and a tip with curved, relief edges. The throat has a movable ring for attaching a shoulder strap.
SA Stormtrooper Dagger, late model from 1939, is one of the symbols of Nazi Germany, widely used by members of the SA – the paramilitary wing of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP). The Stormtrooper units, established in 1921, played a key role in the establishment and strengthening of the Nazi regime, maintaining order at party rallies and intimidating political opponents.
The late model dagger, made in 1939, features a simplified design and the use of cheaper materials, a result of mass production and resource saving during the war. The manufacturer of this dagger was the company Puma, known for its long-standing tradition in the production of cold weapons. By this time, Puma had already established itself as one of the leading suppliers of quality weapons in Germany.
Three main types of SA daggers are distinguished:
Early 1933-1935.
Mid 1936-1938 (dual marking is possible until 1940).
Late 1939-1942.
SA daggers usually had an inscription on the blade “Alles für Deutschland” (“Everything for Germany”), emphasizing the members of the SA’s dedication to the National Socialist idea. Late models are generally associated with more stringent control and standardization, reflecting the increasing discipline and centralization in the Third Reich as it prepared for war.
The company Puma, founded in 1769 in Solingen, Germany, gained international recognition for its high-quality products, combining traditional German craftsmanship with innovation. The marking RZM M7/27 confirms that Puma was a licensed supplier of cold weapons for Nazi Germany, with the “M7” code indicating specialization in the production of knives and daggers, and “27” as the company’s unique identifier.
After the war, Puma shifted its focus to the production of hunting, sporting, and professional knives, but its military legacy remains a significant part of the company’s history. Antique Puma knives and daggers with the RZM M7/27 marking are highly valued by collectors today for their historical significance and craftsmanship.
