Handle: Metal, with two lacquered wooden grips on the sides, secured with three metal pins with countersunk heads. The head of the handle is metal, oval in cross-section, attached to the tang with a countersunk screw.
Crossguard: Simple, metal, quadrangular in cross-section, with bevels, tapering evenly towards the ends. The ends of the crossguard are slightly curved upwards. An oval washer is present under the crossguard, forming a single piece with the crossguard. All metal parts of the hilt are chrome-plated.
Blade: Straight, flat, diamond-shaped in cross-section, double-edged, polished. The base is stamped with a serial number and the manufacturer’s mark “Victoria” and “Elsener Schwyz.” The blade is unembellished.
Scabbard: Metal, painted black, with a tip shaped like a rectangular button with a strap.
A thin chrome-plated throat is present. On the reverse side, just below the throat, there is a bracket for attaching the strap of the frog.
Frog: Consists of a brown leather loop with a bracket to which a flat carabiner is attached.
Tassel: For officers – a red strap with three white longitudinal stripes and a closed tassel made of white cord.
The dagger was worn by army officers, non-commissioned officers, and military police officers.
Since the introduction of new uniform regulations in 1991, the Swiss Army no longer uses the dagger, although according to Karl Elsener of Victorinox, officers still receive the dagger upon promotion.
The last shipment of daggers by the company was in 1991. The largest known dagger number from Victorinox was 397126. An additional 1527 daggers without numbers were also produced and supplied in 1991. Since then, daggers have not been produced.
