Dear collectors and connoisseurs of antique weapons, we offer you an original Japanese sword Wakizashi, made by the outstanding master Kawashi-no Kami Fujiwara Kunisuke in the Edo Period (1603-1868). This sword is a true work of art and historical value.
Blade: The distinctive hamon of the Gunome-Choji style is of deep character, created using the “itame-hada” technique. The blade is distinguished by impeccable forging quality without any visible defects.

Scabbard: Wooden, painted black and decorated with black “sageo” cord weaving.
Handle: Wrapped in black braiding and decorated with gold inlay on iron “Fuchi” depicting clouds and tree branches. Menuki are made of metal with silver and gold elements. On one side there is a bouquet of flowers, on the other – a figure of a man riding a fish.

The Edo period marked the flowering of Japanese culture, arts and crafts. It was a period of relative stability and isolation of Japan, which allowed craftsmen to perfect their art. Wakizashi, as part of traditional Japanese weaponry, played an important role in samurai culture. This short sword was used as an auxiliary weapon paired with a katana and symbolized the honor and dignity of a samurai.
Master Kawashi-no Kami Fujiwara Kunisuke was one of the recognized masters of his time. His works were distinguished by a unique tempering technique, which created an expressive hamon (tempering line), as well as the use of decorative elements that gave the weapon artistic value.
