Dear collectors and visitors of the Antique Gallery website, if you are looking for a gift, particularly antique weapons, we present to you the North European Walloon sword of the mid-17th century, featuring the Wolf of Passau and the talisman 1441.
The significance of “1414,” which is often found alongside the Passau wolf, should be noted.
Thus, 1441 is not a year but a talisman (a good omen) number. This sword is crafted in the typical “Walloon” style and features two large side rings, each filled with plates adorned with pierced stars and circles. The pommel has an expanded central section, screwed onto an egg-shaped cap. A large single spiral with a stamped flower is typically accompanied by a large thumb on the reverse. The handle is wrapped in braided iron wire. The blade depicts a running wolf on both sides. Overall, it is in very good condition.
