?️ The 1961 GDR People’s Army IMF Officer’s Dirk is a unique example of a ceremonial weapon embodying the military might and strict discipline of the German Democratic Republic. This dirk was an integral part of the officers’ uniform equipment in the Maritime Forces (IMF) of the People’s Army of the GDR. The handle is round, made of bakelite, with four rounded deep grooves, with a cylindrical nut at the bottom through which the spring latch button passes. The handle head is round, rimmed, screwed onto the shank from above, and has a flake pattern on the surface.
The cross is flat and tapers at the ends. The ends are in the form of stylized acorns and point in different directions.
The blade is straight, rhombic in cross-section, double-edged, nickel-plated, with two narrow lobes. The heel has the number “76205” and the spring latch tab on one side and the maker’s mark on the other side.


The officer’s dirk, created in 1961, was intended for officers of the GDR Maritime Forces(IMF – Volksmarine), which were part of the GDR National People’s Army.
