This item is a classic example of personal ceremonial weaponry used by members of the SA (Sturmabteilung). The dagger’s design was inspired by the traditional Swiss hunting dagger of the 16th century, known as the “Holbein dagger.” This cold weapon primarily served a ceremonial and status function, being an important element of the uniform.
Blade
The working part consists of a steel, double-edged blade with a diamond cross-section. The official motto of the organization, Alles für Deutschland, is etched on the front side. On the reverse side, at the base of the guard, there is a stamp in the form of a double circle with the RZM runes and the code M7/80, corresponding to the contract of Gustav Spitzer’s factory in Solingen. The blade shows characteristic signs of age: pitting corrosion and marks from the scabbard springs, and the blade is sharpened at the tip.
Grip
The grip is made of wood and has a characteristic flared shape. In the central part of the grip, there is a metal emblem depicting an eagle holding a swastika, and at the top, there is an enamel eye with the SA runes. The guard and pommel of this specimen are made of zinc alloy with nickel plating, which is typical for the production period of 1939–1942.
Scabbard
The scabbard is made of sheet steel and painted brown. The scabbard fittings consist of a throat and tip, which are attached to the body with side screws. There is a ring for attaching a leather hanger on the throat.

Historical Context and Collectible Value

The dagger with the M7/80 mark is an authentic military artifact. The Gustav Spitzer factory was known for its high-quality assembly even in the later period.
Status: The service dagger was a mandatory attribute of the stormtrooper’s ceremonial uniform and was awarded after completing a probationary period.
Rarity: Examples in good condition with a clear RZM code are consistently sought after by militaria collectors.
Authenticity: The combination of materials and type of stamp confirms the item’s belonging to the later production period (post-1938).
This lot represents historical and cultural value as an object of material culture from the mid-20th century.
