The blade is steel, a slight curvature with a pronounced heel, reinforced edge, fighting end double-bladed. The heel of the blade is stamped with the manufacturer’s stamp in the form of a double-headed eagle (the stamp is not identified)
The hilt consists of a hilt and gardi, the wooden hilt is covered with black leather with grooves, wrapped with twisted wire. Gada with a protective shaped shackle. The reverse side is stamped “13.T.P.4.90.”
The scabbard is solid metal and consists of the mouth of two clips and a lug with a shoe, the shoe is stamped with the serial number “3452”

A South Germanic sword from the state/kingdom of Bade and for the Landwehr and volunteer cavalry officers from 1812-1813.
Photo from Gerd Meyer’s book on South German swords; The shape is identical, but the hilt is more decorated. This weapon is described as a Rothmister ‘s palash (senior officer’s rank in the cavalry). The photo describes the blade with a straight blade, but the one I have is curved and most likely simply because it was a private order and the palash was made according to the officer’s preference for a saber.
The description from the Photo Book demonstrated above
Landwehr Rotmistre’s palash after 1813
1812-13 begins the creation of the Landwehr, to which the Volunteer Cavalry Corps is added. Passed down from images and still available in the original, this is the Landwehr cavalry captain’s broadsword.
The very vague regulations for arming volunteer organizations tacitly allowed for such deviations.
