Description: This sword, which belonged to the Order of the Knights of Friendship (OKF), is a valuable artifact with a history that spans more than a century. The OKE was founded in Philadelphia in 1859 as a patriotic secret society. The membership of the Order in 1920 was 20,000, mostly in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The sword has a unique design that reflects the symbolism of the OCK. The head of the sword is exquisitely decorated with a globe with the letter “C”. The hilt is barrel-shaped white with vertical beards, and the crossguard is in the shape of a bow with a triangular counterguard containing three crossed arrows. The emblem of the Order is a triangle inside a circle, which is also present on the sword. These symbols reflect the ideals of the OKE: charity, friendship and knowledge.
In addition, the sword has an authentic stamp or mark that allows to trace its origin and confirm its belonging to the Order of the Knights of Friendship, as well as the name of the owner written in Gothic script, possibly “Fin. Sestq.”
The blade is decorated on both sides with a very beautiful detailed sprouting ornament.
The scabbard is metal, consists of a mouth, decorated with a hilt with two movable rings, the hilt is decorated with a convex frame with a dotted background depicting a six-pointed star in a triangle, above the triangle is a handshake. The scabbard is covered with nickel.
The heel of the blade is marked with the maker’s mark “Horstman Philadelphia”

The Order of the Knights of Friendship was founded in Philadelphia in 1859 as a patriotic secret society. The ritual has three degrees: Knight Junior, Knight Bachelor and Knight False.
